DAY 4: Visit to a Cattle Ranch & Pickleball

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel to start your day.

Morning: Hotel pick-up and transfer to a traditional cattle ranch, where you'll be guided through regional ranching traditions and enjoy a traditional lunch.

One of the most unique and thrilling experiences you can have in Spain is discovering the dehesa ecosystem, whose main protagonists are the open oak woodlands and their most iconic inhabitant: the toro bravo (fighting bull).

A large part of the province of Salamanca is dominated by this dehesa landscape—rolling lands where holm oak forests predominate, alongside smaller groves of oaks, cork oaks, and ash trees. Together, they form a vast territory known as El Campo Charro.

This natural environment is presided over by the majestic presence of the toro bravo, but it is also home to native morucha cattle and Iberian pigs, which feed on acorns—the fruit of the holm oak—during the winter.

Salamanca is the province in Spain with the highest number of toro bravo livestock farms and is the territory that raises the largest number of these bulls in the entire country. It is, therefore, the best place to discover, guided by the expertise of its owners and caretakers, the richness of this unique natural space, to learn about the particularities of breeding the toro bravo, traditional farming tasks, and the countless stories that have shaped the centuries-old history of most of these estates.

Afternoon: Upon returning to Salamanca, head straight to the pickleball facility for your daily session.

Day 5: Excursion to the Sierra de Francia & Pickleball

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel to start your day.

Morning: Travel by private vehicle to the Sierra de Francia for a guided tour with a local expert, then return to Salamanca.

The Sierra de Francia, located south of the city of Salamanca, is a unique area known for its stunning landscapes and lush nature. It is part of the Las Batuecas – Sierra de Francia Natural Park and the Biosphere Reserve of the Béjar and Francia mountain ranges.

But it also holds the highest concentration of Historic Heritage Sites in the region of Castile and León. This distinction reflects the extraordinary cultural richness preserved in some of its villages — those charming villages we often refer to as “pueblos con encanto” — such as La Alberca, Mogarraz, San Martín del Castañar, Sequeros, Miranda del Castañar, and Villanueva del Conde. These small towns, thanks to their geographical location, historical isolation, and the determination of their people to preserve their roots, have maintained a unique architecture and urban design, as well as an identity steeped in centuries of traditions.

La Alberca was the first village in Spain to be declared a Historic Heritage Site. Its exceptional urban layout, a calendar filled with unique festivals throughout the year, its privileged location within a natural park — protected from above by the Sanctuary of Peña de Francia — and its role as a gateway to the mysterious and literary Batuecas Valley, have made it one of the most visited destinations in the region.

The Sierra de Francia is also an ideal place for mountain biking through oak and chestnut forests, or for hiking along trails such as those in the Art in Nature Trails Network: family-friendly routes that combine the enjoyment of nature with contemporary artworks created by Land Art specialists, turning the area into an open-air museum.

Gastronomy is another of the region’s key attractions. Visitors can tour some of Spain’s most renowned ham and Iberian sausage curing facilities, or discover small local wineries that are part of the Sierra de Salamanca Protected Designation of Origin. This centuries-old winemaking tradition has built its prestige on cultivating native grape varieties on terraces, grapes that are largely unknown in the rest of the country.

Afternoon: Transfer to and from your pickleball session by private vehicle.

Sierra de Francia

Day 6: Discovering Ciudad Rodrigo

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel to start your day.

Morning: Travel by private vehicle to Ciudad Rodrigo for a guided tour of the town’s highlights and traditions, including a visit to an Iberic ham drying room, then return to Salamanca.

On the border with Portugal, just forty-five minutes from Salamanca, lies Ciudad Rodrigo. A town whose history assigned it the role of border sentinel. Rebuilt in the Middle Ages and named after its founder, Count Rodrigo González Girón, it has historically been the military capital of the province. Its medieval and baroque walls enclose one of the most beautiful urban areas to be found in Spain.

The city invites you to stroll endlessly through its streets and to return for its most iconic celebrations: the Carnaval del Toro and the Castile and León Theatre Fair at the end of August. Its human-scale size allows visitors to quickly discover its most important architectural landmarks.

The Cathedral, which began as Romanesque and was completed in Neoclassical style, was built over several centuries, from the 12th to the 18th. Inside, it preserves valuable spaces such as the Pórtico del Perdón, a Gothic masterpiece, a curious medieval cloister, and a magnificent 15th-century wooden choir.

The list of Plateresque palaces that embellish every corner of Ciudad Rodrigo is endless. Most were built in the 16th century, with highlights like the Águila Palace, which features a spectacular Renaissance courtyard.

As you walk through the town, you’ll also come across the impressive funerary chapel of the Marquises of Cerralbo, the size of a grand church, and presiding over the town’s two kilometers of defensive walls is the 14th-century medieval castle of King Henry II, now converted into a Parador Nacional (a state-run luxury hotel).

In the surrounding area, a must-see is the Siega Verde Archaeological Site, considered the largest collection of Paleolithic rock engravings in Spain and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Afternoon: Private transfer to and from your pickleball session.

Ciudad Rodrigo

Day 7: Farewell to Salamanca

Morning: After breakfast at the hotel, a private transfer will take you back to Madrid Airport.
